Blaming the Jews

In the comments to this post, a certain person wrote

Well the neocons got their way. Harriet Miers has been pulled out of the fray. I suppose America can only be good if we have perhaps another Jew appointed to the Supreme Court. The Christians are being shoved right out of the United States.

In addition to that being nuts, it is also highly offensive. I have fought tooth and nail to make sure Miers’ nomination was withdrawn and I am an evangelical Christian. There are many who have taken to just trusting the President, but not many have adopted the rhetoric of the left (“neocons”) in doing so.

There is, for the record, only one Jew on the United States Supreme Court. The majority are Catholic. Religion had nothing to do with the appointment of Miers and, in fact, the people most conservatives have been championing are all Presbyterian, Baptist, or Methodist. Last I checked, none of those groups are part of some wacky Zionist plot.

The comment is offensive and absurd. The commenter has, I’m sure, not paid attention to the fact that in the past forty-eight hours some of Miers key supporters have withdrawn their support because of speeches she gave in the early 90’s. in those speeches, Miers said she found nothing wrong with judicial activism and that she supported the self determination found in cases like Roe and Casey. Miers also imposed affirmative action standards on the Texas Bar when she was its President.

While the commenter no doubt thinks she is thinking for herself, she sounds more comfortable throwing around anti-semetic labels under the guise of trusting the President. She can do better than that, and she should.

Being sorry Miers is out is no reason to blame “neocons” and “Jews.”

  • Well you can be offended if you wish but Mr. Frum was one of the biggest opponents of Harriet Miers. This is American, and I have a right to free speech, and the ability to analyze facts for myself. If you want to delete what I wrote go on, it is your blog!

  • Eric says:

“There is, for the record, only one Jew on the United States Supreme Court.”

Linda says: Well my research tells me that there are two Jews on the Supreme Court, which is Justice Breyer and Justice Ginsberg. Now do I hate Jews, no I do not. But I do see the secular direction that our country has taken to be funded by the ACLU, which is very much Jewish. I am a Christian through and through, and the first time I ever heard the term used “anti-semitic” was after the Passion of the Christ movie. This is when I became in turn to just who was trying to shove Christianity out of the United States. And it is most certainly not the Christians.

Have a good day. And if I wrong with my source, please point out that fact and your source.

  • I suggest that you take a good hard look at to what is happening to Christians in Canada, in Germany, in Russia, in Africa, in Iraq, in Saudi Arabia and I could go on and on. You obviously do not keep up with world events.

  • I suggest you read some of Pat Buchanan’s books because I intend on reading them. If he runs for President again that is who I will be supporting.

  • Zachary says:

“What do you think about Michael McConnell as a potential Supreme Court nominee?”

I do not like the idea of a woman being railroaded out of the nomination process! I think it is disgusting, and the Republican Party will lose many women on the side lines. Those undecided women that do not understand politics will vote for Hillary Clinton.

  • Dear Zachary,

I see you have a link from Michael Badnarik on your blog. I met him a couple of months ago at the Texas Cattle Company. He really impressed me with his intelligence, and his ability to practically quote the US Constitution verbatum. Do you know that he was arrested for trying to get into a debate last year with Bush and Kerry along with the Green Party candidate? Yeah that is our wonderful free country that my friend died in Iraq for a year ago.

Since, Eric is an expert at Constitutional law maybe he can tell us why Michael Badnarik and the Green Party candidate do not have a right to debate when Michael was on the ballot in 48 states????????

  • Linda, You better study the Libertarioans some more. They would have Illegal drugs (pot and worse) a legal substance and prostitution legal with a brothel in every town. Just because Badnarik is s slick speaker doesn’t cover up for all othe the other views that he has. As for Miers withdrawing her name, she was not qualified for the job, plain and simple. It has nothing to do with the “Jews”. I’d say some more but this is a family friendly site.

I do trust President Bush, it is you that did not trust the President! I do not like games, and if that is what the Republican Party is becoming then I will suppport either an Independent Conservative such as Pat Buchanan or a Libertarian Candidate. I do not like you calling my remarks anti-semitic. I have listened to the hatred from the ACLU, and from a person that the ACLU represents, Mr. Newdow. That is the direction our country is going in. And if you do not believe it then you must have been taught watered down history in College, as I was. The History repeats itself, and don’t ever forget that. Read Zell Miller’s books, and you will see that he believes that good Christian values belong in American society.

You can attack me with your vicious attacks, Eric, but I know who I am and what my values are. I have a mind and I am a free thinker! Many in the Democrat Party and Republican Party have sold their souls to the Devil. Look in the scriptures and find the passage that I do not have on hand but it goes like this: “The love of money is the root of all evil.” If you are a true Christian as you say you are then you know that there is only one way to heaven, and that is to accept the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal savior. I do not want people teaching my children and grandchildren in public schools that evolution is the way to go, and to remove divinity from our Country. That is what scares the daylights out of me, and you should if you are truly a Constitutional person respect my rights as a United States Citizen to believe how I wish.

Like I said, I was so dumb to terminoloty that I did not know what anti-semitic even meant until watching Mel Gibson’s movie, and hearing non-stop ridicule of his movie from every cable station, except for Fox News. Now Hollywood is producing the DaVinci Code to counter the Passion of the Christ. Yeah smear Jesus some more. This is not politics, but the people that say religion does not belong in politics and business are the ones that have destroyed our nation that was created “one nation under God.” That is exactly what the New Testament warns that there will be Christians that put down other Christians, and will turn away from their faith. Good day.

  • I was so dumb to terminoloty (terminology) I have got to get payroll returns finished. I am sure I spelled other words wrong. I am sick and tired of the Republican Party members that act like a dictatorship instead of a party of individual rights. It does not matter who is President because it is money and power that runs the United States!

  • Furthermore, tell me one Christian in public office that has tried to remove “one nation under God” from the Pledge of Allegiance.

  • ZACHARY SAYS: What do you think about Michael McConnell as a potential Supreme Court nominee?

    NO, NO, NO!

    1. Disagreed with court in BushvGore.

    2. Employment Division v. Smith argued that it is ok with some Mexicans to use halluciginec tea in rituals.

    3. Argued against Boy Scouts excluding Gay Scout leaders.

    4. Argued against a flag burning amendment.

    5. Against school prayer in coercive settings.

No, as a Christian I could not support this judge for the US Supreme Court!

  • McConnell, a skilled Supreme Court advocate, argued successfully in favor of public financial support for religious publications in Rosenberger v. University of Virginia and in favor of supplying federally funded school equipment to parochial schools in Mitchell v. Helms.

Linda says: This looks positive though. I suppose you have to take the good with the bad. Heck, I am a nobody on the grand scheme of things. No one cares what the everyday middle class thinks anyway. We just slave to pay the bills!

  • Even in a society of laws, one of the most indispensable freedoms is that to express in the most impassioned terms the most passionate disagreement with the laws themselves, the institutions of and created by, law, and the individual officials with whom the laws and the institutions are entrusted. Without the freedom to criticize that which constrains, there is no freedom at all.

–Judge J. Michael Luttig, Potential Supreme Court Nominee
    Rice v. Palladin (4th Circuit, 1997)

    Good quote.

National Jewish Statement on Harriet Miers.

Basically, it all came down to separation of powers between the Judicial Branch and Executive Branch. Supreme Court Justice Rehnquist had not been a judge, and from what I understand at least 34 others were not judges when nominated to the Supreme Court. We even had a Judge that did not go to college, but did pass the bar.

  • Not sure how this whole discussion got off track. Either way, I doubt religion came into play in the decision to withdraw the nomination. I was a luke warm supporter of the nominee mainly based on trust in the president’s judgment. While many conservatives maligned Ms. Miers qualifications others were concerned about her age which could limit her time on the bench. In the end, the main thing which derailed her nomination was the speeches she gave in the early 90’s which were arguably liberal. If she had strong support before that the speeches could have been dismissed but with already questionable support those speeches became her undoing.

My pick now would be Alice Batchelder. Maureen Mahoney has been called a female John Roberts because of the similar resumes.

  • McConnell is not my favorite, but he is a noted evangelical and deeply religious individual. The conservatives on the current Court have been pushing for adoption of McConnell’s theories on the separation of Church and State.

  • Religion means everything in the United States today. We are fighting hard to not allow secularism to completely take over the United States. Update news flash on O’reilly Factor: religous holidays banned in Florida. This is exactly what the Bible’s scriptures talk about. Yes, I am a Christian and yes my Jesus is a Jew. So I do not hate Jews. Now, this is my belief system, and I truly believe that Jews will accept Christ in the second coming. I am a Christian, a full fledged baptized in the water Christian. We are witnessing the destruction of the United States on a daily basis, and no one can stop the runaway train. Rome fell, and so shall the United States fall. When you separate yourself from the almighty as a nation, you are no longer the light of the world. We may not see the United States become a third world country in our life time, but our children will. I pray that President Bush appoints a conservative Christian to the Supreme Court. Judge Scalia most certainly was correct in supporting Harriet Miers, and I believe this is the biggest mistake of the Republicans in the last 50 years to oppose Harriet Miers.

  • I just gave a link in number 24! I am a neocon, you are a neocon and we became neocons after 911! Read the link, the Jewish neocons left the Liberal Party because of the isolationist policies of the Democrats. The Jewish Neocons as stated in this article have their allegiance to Israel.

My allegiance is as follows: “I pledge allegiance to the United States of America.”

We will always be in wars because we can never win against anti-semitism throughout the Muslim world. They outnumber us, Eric. The United States is only 5% of the world’s population.

Will you take up arms and fight for our country if need be? Or will you say, send someone else but not me. It is only a matter of time before we become like Israel with suicied bombers going into shopping malls. Heck, I think many of the fires in oil facilities and chemical facilities has been terrorist activity and kept from the public.

I know what a neocon is, and as Bill O’Reilly would say: “what say you, Eric?”

  • It is only a matter of time before we become like Israel with suicied bombers going into shopping malls.

    suicide bombers (corrected)

  • On January 3, 1979, a nurse put my newborn son in my arms. My first son, and he was born at St. Joseph’s Church in Louisville. This nurse told me, we have had all boys born today, and that means that we will have a war when your son grows to be a young man. That nurse’s message to me, and she was a Catholic Nun, stayed with me the whole time Mark was growing up.

It is the poor of this country for the most part and middle income class like I fit into that send our sons to fight for the United States. I was not surprised when Mark announced, I am joining the Marines. But for those of you that have never served in the military during a war or maybe never served at all, you cannot relate to a mother or a father that sends his son to war.

Emotions run high for those of us that have lost loved ones in the war, and we question more than the rest of you do “is this our war to fight?”

  • My Christian ancestors died for the United States, since the Revolutionary War and in all wars, and Christianity is what they fought and died for. I have a copy of a letter that a member of my family wrote before killed in the civil war that stated that he had just helped bury some fellow soldiers, and that they had a proper Christian burial.

To allow our Country to be hijacked by secularism of the United States is blasphemy to the Lord, and to those that gave their lives for our one nation under God. Separation between church and state means that the government shall not have a religion but that does not mean that the governmed shall have no religion.

  • governed is the correct spelling. I am going to bed, and I am sure I do not have any readers anyway. Take care all.

  • When you go to the link of JTF, if you scroll to the bottom you will see a photo of the Texas flag that says Texas majority non-white. If you click on the photo, you will read the statistics and the prediction for our Country to become a third world country. I am just trying to give you the sources for my writing.

I have gave the crucifiers of me the road map, now go learn something for a change before slandering people like me!

  • “JTF wants to help organize a potent movement of right-wing righteous Gentiles in America, similar to the strong right-wing Jewish youth movement that we have succeeded in building in Israel.”

    The plan for 2008
from link in number 33! If you go to this link, you can see where the star after 911 “Rudy, Rudy, Rudy remember the 2004 Convention in New York” is torn to shreds and slandered relentlessly. You can also see that no one would support a Pro-life President candidate! And you will see a former Presidential candidate a former POW that served our country, John McCain torn to shreds.
