My dad always used to tell me not to ever wrestle a pig because when you do, you both get muddy and the pig enjoys it. I used to always laugh when he said that, but I’m not laughing anymore.
You see, I’ve thought a lot about this over the past year, and I’ve come to the conclusion that day in and day out, the People of the United States are being forced to witness a 24-hour a day, 7 day a week, mud wrestling match between the President and the Democrat Party.
The latest round in the match has been this week’s hullabaloo over what the President said or didn’t say, how he did or didn’t say it, and what he meant or didn’t mean during a private phone call to the grieving pregnant widow of American hero, Sgt. La David Johnson.
Stop and read that last sentence again. This is what we are being subjected to. This is how far we’ve sunk.
You see, Frederica Wilson, a Democrat Representative who before now, had little national recognition, decided to tear a page out of Rahm Emanuel’s playbook by not letting this “good crisis go to waste.” She listened in on the call and immediately fed her spin on it to the soulless, craven media.
The ever-thin-skinned President immediately fired back, and the media circus has been running at three ring levels ever since.
I’m not going to go into what was said or meant or not not said and not meant. There are literally hundreds of articles out there about that with plenty of inflammatory shots from both sides.
This article is about the point that we have come to as a nation where we now use the death of a good and heroic man to try to score points in a blind and senseless battle against those we hate.
Never mind that Sgt. La David Johnson, one of our nation’s finest, has been slain. Never mind that Staff Sgt. Jeremiah Johnson, Staff Sgt. Bryan Black, and Staff Sgt. Dustin Wright gave the ultimate sacrifice alongside him. Never mind that instead of living for themselves, these brave men chose to give their lives for the freedom of people that they didn’t know and would never meet. Never mind that far too soon, they left behind heartbroken mothers, fathers, siblings, wives, children and friends.
As far as Representative Wilson and the media are concerned, Sgt. Johnson will soon be forgotten when the next hot take hits the headlines. This was never about him. This was a chance for Wilson to elevate her national status as a Trump hater, and for the media to cash in on clicks and views. If you don’t believe me, you can watch what she says about the situation here:

Representative Wilson should be ashamed of herself. The reporters harassing Sgt. Johnson’s family for quotes in attempts to snipe at the President should be ashamed of themselves. But she’s not, and they aren’t.
This is where we are now, and I shudder to wonder if we can go any lower in this seemingly never-ending race to the bottom of our humanity.
The battle is ever raging. The American people are the one’s being sprayed with mud. And the pigs are loving every minute.
