A New Day Dawns. A New Age Beckons.

So long Mr. President and welcome. The Age of Obama comes to an end today and the Age of Trump begins. Moving vans will arrive at the White House at sun up. One will carry away things belonging to the First Family and another will bring things for the new First Family.

There are protestors. There are always protestors when a Republican has an inauguration. Ronald Reagan won all but one state in 1984, but his inauguration, held inside because of the blizzard, still saw protestors. But the protestors will not stop the peaceful transition of power.

Like clockwork, at noon on the 20th day of January following a Presidential election, our President becomes “former” and our President-elect drops the “elect.” It is rather remarkable in how unremarkable it has become. In the history of the world it is unique.

Today is Donald Trump’s day. President Obama will, at 12:30 p.m., board a helicopter no longer called Marine One for him. He will go away. President Trump will march down Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House where he will watch a parade in his honor.

And things will continue on. But I dare say nothing will remain the same.

Donald Trump comes on a wave of the left politicizing everything. Where you eat and what you eat is now politicized. How you eat is politicized. What you watch for entertainment is politicized and even the inner dialogue of what you watch has become politicized. As the left has moved God out, they’ve moved government in and with it, instead of divine liturgy we now have the liturgy of virtue signaling.

If Donald Trump forces the left back to reality — a reality where people leave each other alone instead of demanding we all care about social change — he will be successful in shifting the nation back to normalcy. But I dare say the left has lost its mind over his election.

Their protests have descended to vandalism and setting fires in streets. Their respect for our constitutional norms now only applies if it is to their benefit.

A new day dawns and a new age beckons. Unlike past years and past administrations, I have no idea what to expect over the next four years. But I am excited to see it.

President Trump, Vice President Pence, and their families will be in my prayers as President Obama, Vice President Biden and their families were. We can only pray that God holds us close as we march ahead into the unknown.
