A Word About Trump Protestors

I am no fan of Donald Trump and will not be voting for him even if he is the Republican nominee in November, but I think the only thing more appalling than Trump and the merry band of white nationalists in his Twitter brigade are the actual goose steppers protesting Donald Trump.

The protests against Trump have taken on the appearance of protests from third world kleptocracies. They are, in fact, rioting. They are harassing, threatening, intimidating, and causing chaos. What we are seeing is the authoritarian left fighting with the rise of the authoritarian right and I suspect it is only going to get more violent if Trump is the nominee.

But there is no place for this on either side and the left’s reaction to Donald Trump merely having a rally only helps Trump. It also reveals that much of the left opposes free speech and the market place of ideas. Donald Trump has said he wants to curtail the First Amendment and wants to restrict freedom of the press as well as speech. He has just said it on a stage. We don’t know if he even means it.

But we know those protesting him mean it and no one should applaud it or encourage it. As much of the left denounces Trump, they should be denouncing these protestors too. They are doing what the left claims Trump might do.
