Alito It Is — Or So It Seems

&#8220Conservatives will have a fight on their hands in the Senate — a very winnable fight.&#8221

Multiple sources are telling RedState that Samuel A. Alito, Jr. of the Third Circuit Court of Appeals will be named by the President at the next associate justice of the United States Supreme Court as early as Monday.

“The situation is still in flux,” says one source, “but not very much.” Says another, “The White House Counsel’s Office is not doing too good at keeping this a secret.”

Still another source says, “Luttig and Alito were the fall backs to Miers. They have both been vetted. Alito seems more palatable. There is no need to drag this out, he’s been vetted a million times.”

And yet another source tells me that he is convinced Alito is the nominee barring some last minute unforeseen issue. All signs are pointing to Judge Alito right now. Things could change, but as the weekend draws closer it seems more and more likely that Judge Alito will be the nominee and conservatives will have a fight on their hands in the Senate — a very winnable fight.

  • Scooter Libby just resigned. Scooter Libby is VP Cheney’s Chief of Staff. Libby was the former attorney for super rich billionaire Marc Rich, who was pardoned by former President Clinton before Clinton left office. Marc Rich’s wife gave big contributions to the Clinton Library.

  • The Press Release and Indictment can be read on this link. I feel that this is very important to our national security, and I also feel that it should not be suppressed in free and open debate forums. Those that only rely on the local media do not get all of the facts. If facts and circumstances are hidden to protect political interests, we as a United States are doomed to repeat the same mistakes. Five counts in an indictment is very serious.

  • And, I want to cut everyone off at the pass before coming at me that I am happy to talk about an indictment. Quite, the contrary as there is no bigger a supporter of this White House than me. Mr. Fitgerald just said something to the effect that no one should try to look at these indictments as a reason to say that the war was right or wrong in Iraq. So those in the Michael Moore camp should not use this as an opportunity to gloat.

This is a sad day in American history, while at the same time it is a day to be celebrated because it shows that national security is of top importance in our United States. We cannot live in the shield of secrecy because that is when a Country becomes sinister.
