The marauding crowds protesting against Donald Trump in Portland, Oregon are having a problem finding anyone who actually voted for Trump. Multnomah County voted for Clinton 73 percent to just 17 percent for Trump. Of 390,438 votes, Trump received 66,733.
But it doesn’t matter because most of the people in those crowds didn’t vote in Oregon anyway.
Most of the 112 protesters arrested in Portland last week didn’t vote in Oregon, according to state election records. Approximately 30 percent did cast a ballot in Oregon or in another state.
At least seventy-nine demonstrators either didn’t turn in a ballot or weren’t registered to vote in the state.
So where are the protesters, who didn’t vote, coming from? Apparently: Craigslist.
The Craigslist ads read: “STOP TRUMP – up to $1500/week. Hiring immediately! Call Today Start tomorrow! $15-$18 hourly rate + bonus + overtime up to 77 hours per week!”
They were placed by a Planned Parenthood affiliate in major cities like Boston, Denver, Columbus, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh right before the election to defeat the candidacy of Donald Trump. However, most of them are still active on Craigslist, fueling questions about whether the group is now among those feeding the post-election anti-Trump protests across the country.
Many of the ads have Planned Parenthood Action, a PAC, emblazoned across the top and all of them list phone numbers belonging to the Community Outreach Group, a for-profit organization formed by Planned Parenthood as “a vendor of large-scale advocacy.” Protesting is among the tasks listed on its website.
I guess that’s one way to employ a bunch of basement-dwelling Millennials, and get them to actually show up to work.
One job popped up over the weekend with an ad on both Craigslist and Reddit offering to pay $35 to protest at Trump’s Los Angeles golf course for 10 hours. Protesters were urged to “dress to impress” and bring signs.
They’re not even being subtle, or hiding their intent. They want to pay a mercenary army, using George Soros’ cash, to gum up the works and somehow get–I don’t know. Honestly, the end goal is a bit fuzzy, like Occupy Wall Street. There’s no achievable objective here. End the Electoral College? No, Democrats don’t control the House, Senate, or enough state houses to even try. Overturn the election? How?
The only point to these demonstrations appears to be to make news. Then use them later to milk donors into giving to Planned Parenthood, MoveOn.org, and all the other liberal one-world-government, open-society organizations who will be on defense for at least the next four years. It’s better for fundraising, being on defense.
The protesters have 64 days to make hay. After that, it’s back to politics and fundraising. The cynical dad in me says this: liberal kids, get off your couches, put down your iPads and earn a few bucks standing with a “Not My President” sign. But only if they offer health benefits.
