Ben Sasse Pushes Back Against Perez’s Claim That All Dems Must Support Abortion

Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) is criticizing Democratic National Committee chairman Tom Perez’s claims that all Democrats seeking public office must support “women’s right to choose,” The Blaze reports.

Perez promised to fight for abortion rights, telling The Huffington Post:

“Every Democrat, like every American, should support a woman’s right to make her own choices about her body and her health. That is not negotiable and should not change city by city or state by state.”

“At a time when women’s rights are under assault from the White House, the Republican Congress, and in states across the country,” he added, “we must speak up for this principle as loudly as ever and with one voice.”

Sen. Sasse pointed out the hypocrisy in Perez’s stance, noting that he says he is “fighting for the little guy” in his Twitter bio.

“Your profile says you fight for the little guy,” Sasse tweeted. “Please check out this little fella — special, isn’t he? (He’s 12 weeks old.)”

Senator Sasse has been a staunch defender of the unborn in the Senate since he was elected to the office in 2014.

Perez has not yet responded to Sasse’s tweet.
