Former FBI Director James Comey will testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee on June 8 according to a report by the Associated Press. Comey was fired by President Trump in May for reasons that many believe involve the FBI investigation into Russian meddling with the election and former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn’s communications with Russian officials. Comey Comey allegedly authored a memo describing how the president asked him to intervene in the investigation of Flynn and “let this go.”
CNN reports that Comey is scheduled to testify in an open session at 10 a.m. ET and a closed session at 1 p.m. He is expected to address his private conversations with President Trump in which the president made the request to drop the investigation.
The open session will be must-see TV for both critics and supporters of the Trump Administration.
