Police in Paris have cordoned off the main square by Notre Dame cathedral after two “blasts” panicked tourists, and an attacker was shot by police according to media reports.
The man was shot in the chest, according to BFMTV, and is being treated for two bullet wounds. Elite police are encircling the area to check there are no accomplices.
Some tourists are now trapped in the iconic cathedral while police search the grounds.
