In the hours after the terrorist attack in Orlando, Florida that left 50 dead – including the attacker who pledged allegiance to ISIS as he wrought his evil deeds – a prominent Wisconsin Democrat took to Twitter to blame Christians and churchgoers for enabling terrorism and contributing to the violence. Nevermind that there is not a shred – not a single ounce – of evidence linking the radicalized Omar Mateen to any church.
But if a Wisconsin Democrat’s comments on Sunday were over the top, CNN political commentator Sally Kohn’s Twitter feed on Monday was positively absurd. In response to an act of terrorism perpetrated by a radical Islamic terrorist, Kohn waged a jihad of words on Christians and Christianity, equating average church-going Americans with evil barbarians who subscribe to a death cult disowned by many Muslims.
Here’s just a sample of Kohn’s tweets that equate – literally draw a moral equivalence between – Christians and Islamic terrorists who beat women, kill anyone of another faith and many of their own faith, and wish to create a culture of death and violence.
The Second Amendment has long served as the target of choice for the Left in the aftermath of a terrorist attack or mass shooting. With the Orlando terrorist attack, the Second Amendment’s culpability has taken a backseat to the Left’s newfound obsession with blaming Christians for the actions of radical Islamic terrorists.
