CNN reported this morning that Rand Paul is suspending his campaign.
“It’s been an incredible honor to run a principled campaign for the White House,” Paul said in the statement. “Today, I will end where I began, ready and willing to fight for the cause of Liberty.”
Lucky for him, he paid $500,000 to the Kentucky GOP so he could run for his Senate seat while playing presidential politics. Instead of a primary, Kentucky Republicans will now have a caucus, all courtesy of Rand Paul. Hopefully that won’t come back to bite him.
Although with just 4.5 percent in the Iowa caucus and not much traction in New Hampshire, Paul is correct to see his chances at the nomination to be near impossible. But it was fun and informative having him at the debates. His performance at the last one in Des Moines was very strong.
Paul tweeted this poignant video to his supporters. Rand, we hardly knew you.
