Hillary Clinton Secures the Democratic Nomination

Hillary Clinton now has enough delegates in her corner to become the Democrats’ presumptive nominee. President Barack Obama will endorse her this week. It is the end of the line for Bernie Sanders and his supporters, like most Republicans falling in behind Trump to stop Clinton, will line up behind Clinton to stop Donald Trump.

Donald Trump, for his part, has crossed the 1,237 delegate threshold to be the presumptive Republican nominee. Short of the delegates saving the party from destruction, he will go on to be destroyed by Hillary Clinton. Even before securing her nomination, Hillary Clinton has jumped back ahead of Trump in the polling averages and Reuters now has Clinton with a double digit lead.

As a friend noted in email, Republicans who continue to stand with Donald Trump are writing the party’s obituary.
