How the GOP Spells Victory: S-U-R-R-E-N-D-E-R

Congress is back in session and it brings more reminders of why Republicans must now contend with Donald Trump as their Presidential nominee. Time and time again, the GOP has spelled victory wrong. They’ve spelled surrender instead.

Consider that the GOP is going to proceed with zika virus funding while caving on Democrat demands to fund Planned Parenthood. The Center for Medical Progress documented what Planned Parenthood does. The organization chops up children, keeps babies in freezers, and harvests organs. The GOP is now going to fund Planned Parenthood, caving to Democrat demands.

On top of that, we are now several trillion dollars beyond where the GOP was willing to draw a line in the sand five years ago and engage in brinksmanship over the debt ceiling. That got us the sequester, which was the first time we actually rolled back spending in any significant measure. The GOP caved on that too and now is capitulating to Barack Obama and Harry Reid on spending again.

With a national election now being fueled by anger at a ruling elite, crony capitalism, and a national capital picking winners and losers instead of letting market forces do it, the GOP has extended the life of the Export-Import bank to reward major donors.

With terrorist attacks now in Minnesota, Tennessee, Texas, California, New York, New Jersey, and elsewhere, the GOP will do nothing to curtail unchecked refugee resettlement in the United States or even effectively step in to make sure current programs are working as designed.

As China continues its technological advancements, the Republicans in Congress continue to fund the F-35 program as a one size fits all version of a “comprehensive military health care” plan. The plane is the worst air fighter ever produced in the modern era, but enough parts are made in enough congressional districts that the GOP is hell bent on its funding.

This is Republican victory and with victories like this, who needs the Democrats to run things? So the GOP will hand its party over to a Clinton donor. The base of the party does not really think he will do better. They just know he’ll burn it all down. At this point, that probably is preferable.
