Contrary to his public image, Donald Trump is not worth $10 billion. In fact, that is the primary reason he will not release his tax returns. He does not want people to see his annual income. There is credible speculation that Trump is not even worth one billion dollars. In other words, if you are honest with yourself, you know Donald Trump cannot fund his own campaign.
If you support Donald Trump, you need to go write him a check. While I am adamantly opposed to his candidacy, I am also opposed to the leftwing tactic of harassing and shaming donors to Presidential candidates. That is beginning to happen with his major donors. The most recent victim is Intel CEO Brian Krzanich.
Mr. Krzanich intended to host a fundraiser for Trump, but the tech press, which leans way to the left, decided to shame him and drum up harassment. Everyone in tech remembers how Brendan Eich was driven out of Mozilla by the leftwing horde for daring to contribute to causes supporting real marriage. The tech press is nasty and aggressive, reflective of the leftists in Silicon Valley as a whole.
But the rest of the media is the same way. Krzanich is just the latest. While I may oppose Trump, people have the right to support whoever they want. And all of us should speak up when others exercising their rights in the political process are being targeted for shaming, harassment, boycott, etc. In a civil society, we have to agree to disagree.
There are some very major donors out there who will not support Trump because of principled disagreement. There are some who will not support him because they are leftists. But there are some who would support Trump, but they fear what will happen if they do so publicly. That Mr. Krzanich is having to cancel his fundraiser for Trump, as other millionaires are having to do, is not right, whether I like Trump or not.
But this is another reason why Trump supporters absolutely must put their money where their mouth is. Donald Trump does not have the money he claims to have. He will need your pennies too.
