Is Reince Going to Resign This Evening?

A 5pm meeting for the RNC this evening. There is no word on what it is about.

I’ve got to imagine someone is falling on a sword somewhere over the past few disastrous weeks. The Trump debacle is now sending Senate races into tossup territory. The RNC staff are in open revolt against the nominee. Donors are walking away.

All of this could have been prevented had the RNC not blocked attempts at replacing Trump in the convention and Reince played a key role in arm twisting at that time.

As much as I like Reince, seeing him stay on for another term is at this point a nonstarter and were he to leave now, he could set a good example for what Trump should do. Or perhaps Pence is throwing in the towel.

Something is happening and we will find out this evening.

You know, as an aside, I really do feel badly for the guys at the RNC, Reince included. It has been a difficult few years and they have done their damnedest to keep everything functioning and money flowing. And they’ve been quite successful. Down to the state legislative level, the GOP has done a remarkable job of rebuilding and creating a new farm team. But it is all going to be overshadowed by this Presidential race, which only happened because of seventeen candidates running, the only one who could see the field needed to be thinned to stop Trump was Reince’s friend from Wisconsin, Scott Walker.

Hell of a year for all of us.
