I’m going to start this out by saying: I don’t care what Barack Obama does, as a private citizen. All of my previous complaints about the man had to do with what he did as president.
Everything from killing the middle class and destroying our nation’s healthcare system with the Obamacare bill that the new administration is currently grappling with, to his breathtaking overreach on social justice issues made Barack Hussein Obama a poison pill to our nation.
He exacerbated racial tensions in America, because it served his purpose.
His arrogance in dealing with lawmakers on the right deepened the already severe divide in political discourse.
In fact, everything about the Obama presidency set this nation up in the worst possible position for dealing with a Trump presidency now.
So, no. I don’t care what Obama does, now that he’s out of office. I’m just glad he’s gone.
All that being said, it is with no small amount of amusement that I watch as the left suddenly see their paragon of liberal virtues, the champion of the 99 percenters (Remember them?), leave his White House charade in the dust, as he parties like the hypocritical, liberal elitist many of us knew him to be.
Since leaving office in late January, Obama has visited late actor Marlon Brando’s private island; the Four Seasons in Bali — where rooms cost upward of $2,000 per night; a Palm Springs estate; Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island; the exclusive Mid Pacific Country Club in Oahu; the 13th-century Borgo Finocchieto in Tuscany; and the Rising Sun, Hollywood studio mogul David Geffen’s private yacht.
“These are some of the most luxurious travel destinations in the world. Many of our clients spend tens of thousands of dollars or more to stay at these resorts, which cater to the most discriminating and demanding guests,” said Kendra Thornton, travel expert and owner of luxury travel agency Royal Travel. “For example, Necker Island has a nightly price tag of $80,000. Anyone who stays at these properties does so because they want the best of the best.”
Hang on – I’ve got to take a moment to savor the frothing agony of the professional grievance groups, who likely thought Obama’s post-presidency life would be spent in soup kitchens, feeding the poor, in Calcutta, healing the sick and diseased, or maybe just elbow-to-elbow with the riff raff that think shutting down opposing viewpoints on college campuses makes them “freedom fighters,” instead of annoying, fascist twits with small minds.
“Obama is not as wealthy or as conservative as Trump, George W. Bush, or George H.W. Bush, but he enjoys what used to be called ‘the lifestyle of the rich and famous,’” said Dr. David Michael Smith of the Houston Socialist Movement. “I am not surprised by Obama’s several recent foreign vacations. As president, he disappointed millions of supporters who hoped he would be a strong advocate for working-class people.”
If you’re disappointed, be disappointed in yourselves for not paying attention for the last eight years.
A December 2016 report on Obama family vacations during the span of the Obama presidency puts the price tag for the American taxpayers at somewhere between $85 million to $100 million.
Aspen ski trips and jaunts to Morocco, Spain, and Liberia for Michelle Obama and the two daughters, or family outings to Martha’s Vineyard, not to mention the various Hawaii getaways – they all added up.
If the left was silent for eight years of a president and his family who were abusing the perks of office, at the expense of working class Americans, many who struggle to take their families on modest vacations once a year, if at all, then why are they so outraged now?

Maybe because they really believed the constraints of the job were the only things keeping the messiah of identity politics from walking on water and leading them all to a Socialist utopia.
Even Obama’s adoring media figures are beginning to find it hard to defend him.
“I’ll tell you who should kick back a little less,” said HBO host John Oliver in an interview with Seth Meyers on Late Night Monday. “This might be controversial – I’m a little sick of seeing photos of President Obama on vacation with Richard Branson. Just tone it down with the kite-surfing pictures. I’m glad he’s having a nice time – America is on fire.”
Oliver went on to suggest the former president has never been more out of touch with the American people than he is right now.
Still, some of Obama’s former White House officials want to defend his actions since leaving office. He hasn’t been partying 24/7 since January 21, apparently.
One of the first actions after leaving office was to mentor young men from Chicago’s south side who are in a job training program called “CRED,” led by former Education Secretary Arne Duncan. The president also donated $2 million recently to help young people in Chicago get apprenticeships and summer jobs. The president is an avid supporter of the My Brother’s Keeper initiative that aims to improve life outcomes for young men of color.
That’s awesome, and I’m sure he’s left those programs in good hands, as he jet sets around the globe.

Other presidents have taken their first days out of office to unwind, but nothing on a scale this lavish.
But this is the life Barack Obama has always aspired to. The gushing praise of media and leftwing special interest groups for the last eight years has left him feeling “entitled.”
I’m just glad he’s gone.
