Merrick Garland as Obama’s Pick for the United States Supreme Court

Reports suggest Merrick Garland will be the pick. Obama is clearly going for a left-of-center, but mostly centrist pick. Garland is older at 63, so Obama would want to look for someone without long staying power on the court.

Garland has been approved before with Republicans saying nice things about him. At his age, it would not scuttle him to be ignored by the Senate, unlike Sri Srinivasan, who is 49 and also under consideration.

We’l know for sure at 11am whether or not it is Merrick Garland, but multiple Democratic sources are telling reporters that Garland is the pick.
