NextGen America, headed by billionaire Tom Steyer, has announced a $2 million youth organizing effort in Virginia to help boost Democratic gubernatorial nominee Ralph Northam.
Northam, the current Lieutenant Governor of Virginia, is running against Ed Gillespie, a former Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia.
Steyer, who is well-known for his passion for environmentalism, spent nearly $8 million in 2013 to elect Virginia’s current governor, Terry McAuliffe.
The California-based financier, is opposed to the Keystone XL Pipeline, and frequently supported former President Obama’s policies on environmentalism and climate change.
The Virginia Gubernatorial race will be held on November 7th, 2017.
