Planned Parenthood Head: Trump Lied About Offer

When you spend your career vigorously flouting the 6th commandment, do you still get to complain about perceived violations of the 9th?

During an interview with Anderson Cooper, Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards  claimed that President Trump lied, and had never offered to keep funding Planned Parenthood, if they stopped doing abortions.

As the author over at The Right Scoop notes, Donald Trump isn’t exactly George “I cannot tell a lie” Washington…I’m pretty sure if he chopped down a cherry tree, he would have told his Dad it was taken down by NAFTA.

That said, Richards has every reason to pretend this offer wasn’t made.  It was, (queue Marlon Brando voice) an offer she couldn’t accept.   Planned Parenthood loves to alternate between claiming abortion is the most essential medical procedure ever invented, and then, when it falls out of favor, and their funding is endangered, dismiss it as an utterly insignificant portion of their noble mission of providing birth control, prenatal care, and cancer screenings.

Not surprisingly, they have been exposed for gross dishonesty in this regard, with recent undercover investigations making it clear, the only service they are there to provide is abortion.

Trump’s offer (assuming he made it) had a familiar ring to it.  In September of 2001, George W. Bush made a similar one.  Up until that point, the Taliban had attempted to downplay their linkage to Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda.  It was utter nonsense, and Bush knew it, but before the war, he needed to show even the incredibly naive that two organizations were wedded at the hip.  So, he made them an offer they couldn’t accept.  In essence, “If you aren’t linked to Al Qaeda, cough them up.  If you can’t do that, then we have shown the world where your loyalties are.”

If Planned Parenthood’s real raison d’être is affordable cancer screenings and birth control, they would take the deal, and abandon the abortion business to keep their funding.  They cannot accept that offer.
