Pot Calling the Kettle Black: Sheldon Whitehouse Uses Dark Money to Smear Neil Gorsuch Over Dark Money

In today’s Gorsuch confirmation hearing, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island waded into the thick of it to attack Neil Gorsuch and the “dark money” being used to support Gorsuch. A number of conservative groups are supporting Gorsuch and running ads to support him. But there are also a number of leftwing groups attacking Gorsuch.

Sheldon Whitehouse, in a fit of hypocrisy, attacks Gorsuch’s alleged ties to dark money and ignored his own efforts to coordinate with so called “dark money” groups.

Whitehouse has coordinated with CREDO Action, a leftwing dark money group that has even attacked Democrats for standing up to President Obama.

Likewise, Whitehouse has a working relationship with People for the American Way which used “dark money” to oppose John McCain in Arizona. Whitehouse has also helped groups and been assisted by leftwing groups now using “dark money” to run scare ads against Democrats thinking of supporting Gorsuch.

This is a case of the pot calling the kettle black. But Neil Gorsuch is not coordinating with outside groups who are advocating against him. That is a big difference. Sheldon Whitehouse is working with outside “dark money” groups.
