Republican Delegates Still Getting Threatened

I have talked to three Republican delegates all of whom are presumed to be on the Rules Committee for the convention. The three are from different states and have the same story.

They all tell me that they were each contacted by phone by a man claiming to be with the Trump campaign. They were urged to comply with Trump’s wishes . . . . referred to, of course, as “Mr. Trump”, and when they asserted their independence they were threatened. One said the guy on the phone got belligerent and told the delegate he would do what he was told if he knew what was good for him. The second was told it would not be good for his career to object. The third was told he would be exposed, which he claims he does not know anything about.

The common denominator between the three is they are all people who’ve vocally supported Ted Cruz. All three of them are now more resolved than ever to stand up to the Trump campaign.

The thing that amazes everyone I’ve talked to is that the Trump campaign is still showing no signs of reconciliation or trying to work with delegates. Instead, they are still in bunker mode making demands and threats. I very much doubt that is going to change. Combine that with the ongoing fighting between factions within the Trump campaign and we are still going to be in for a fun few months.
