Republicans Unite Against the President. Tell Him to Leave Jeff Sessions Alone.

Chuck Grassley, the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, tweeted last night that the Senate will not hold a hearing on the nomination of any new Attorney General this year. In other words, if the President fires Jeff Sessions, he will be stuck with Rod Rosenstein as Attorney General.

Trey Gowdy went on national television and declared Jeff Sessions works for Lady Justice, not the President.

Privately, in the White House, the President’s aides are telling him to stop his feud with Jeff Sessions because the GOP is united against him on it. Immigration stalwarts are starting to realize that if Sessions goes, the odds of amnesty increase.

This does not appear to be a battle the President can win and he seems to realize it at this point. But tomorrow, after stewing on it, he may just change his mind. One never knows with this President.
