John Piper said it best: “We know we are killing children.”
Illinois Senator Dick Durbin, knows too.
Durbin tried to put Gorsuch on the spot, but gave away the lie behind abortion.
Quoting from a book Gorsuch wrote, Durbin asked:
“You said, ‘The intentional taking of human life by private persons is always wrong.’ How could you square that statement with legal abortion?”
Good question, Senator.
Do you not believe the intentional taking of human life by private persons (absent self -defense) is always wrong?
How do you square that with your party’s enthusiastic support of abortion?
Gorsuch’s answer was disappointing, referring to Roe’s holding that the unborn do not qualify for equal protection. Hopefully that’s a reflection of *current* settled law, not where the Court might go if given the opportunity to revisit the decision.
We know what we are doing. We lie to ourselves, so we can sleep at night, but sometimes, even for the most ardent defenders of abortion like Durbin, the truth leaks out. It always does.
