Sure, Something Smells Fishy…

Read this now. Then think about how you process the world. We do tend to focus on the fishy smell and ignore the overflowing toilet in our spiritual lives.

We are preparing to know about things that very probably can never be known with certainty, and certainly we have no power to prevent, and while we are busy making sure that our outsides look clean, we aren’t getting our issues dealt with – even when we know they exist. The lure of chasing down what smells fishy is too distracting – even more distracting than an open toilet filled to the brim with vile sewage.

I don’t know about you, but this hit home for me. My wife always tells me (and she’s always right) that politics is toxic for the soul. Take some time to flush the toilet now and again. That’s good advice.

About the author

Steve Berman

The old Steve cared about money, prestige, and power. Then Christ found me. All at once things changed. But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

I spent 30 years in business. Now I write and edit. But mostly I love. I have a wife and 2 kids and a dog and we live in a little house in central Georgia.
