Cheers, Football Fans!

Cheers America! Football season has finally arrived. And yet, if your team sucks as bad as mine, it’s time to find a good beer and a reclining chair. But, what is a ‘good’ beer?
To fans of crappy teams everywhere: You’re welcome!

American Blonde Ale: Big Wave Golden Ale, Kona Brewing Company
4.40% ALC
20 IBU
Perfect craft beer for those settling with bud-light. Crisp, light, refreshing but not overly sweet or hoppy.

India/American Pale Ale: [*Overall Winner*] Anti-Hero, Revolution Brewery
6.5% ALC
70 IBU
My favorite hoppy blend. Not too sweet, bitter or dry, with medium body. Easy and enjoyable to drink.

GringoLandia Super-Pils, 5 Rabbit Cerveceria
7.20% ALC
65 IBU
Great upgrade for those who typically drink Budweiser, Miller, etc. Thick yet moderate pilsner.

Imperial Stout:
Americano Stout, Stone Brewery
8.7% ALC
65 IBU
Superior alternative to Guinness. Strong coffee, dark malts flavor. Dry with moderate bitterness.

Yeah, I’d say that’s enough “winning” for Week 1… Stay thirsty, folks:)

Academy Sports Goes P.C. On ‘Scary’ Guns

Academy Sports + Outdoors has decided to join the politically correct narrative that guns commit crimes, but only “scary guns.”

Various media outlets have reported that Academy is pulling “Modern Sporting Rifle” (MSR) category of guns from its shelves in the wake of the Orlando shooting. Reporters from KJRH in Tulsa were asked to leave a local store they visited to check shelves for a story.

According to TheFireArmBlog, the company’s corporate office hosted a conference call telling stores to pull “all modern sporting rifle lighters and other gifts” along with “airsoft and bb guns resembling an ‘assault rifle.'”

The most shocking development is that the conference call outlined a new policy requiring any sale of more than 10 boxes in a caliber that Academy deems an “assault rifle caliber” will require the buyer to furnish personal information that Academy is planning on keeping in a database, other employees have stated that they were just directed to “report the transaction” with no clear outline on how to do so.

This is an outrageous, hypocritical, and anti-truth move by Academy. They are going the way of Walmart, continuing to sell all kinds of deadly weapons, but not the “scary ones” which apparently kill people by themselves.

Academy has $4.6 billion in sales, not so small a part of it to hunters and shooters, who should be outraged. Their decision is simply a form of economic blackmail against manufacturers of modern sport rifles.

TFB also reported that gun maker Daniel Defense terminated their agreement to sell to Academy.

Academy’s decision clearly segregates firearms by their appearance, which sends a dangerous message to our politicians that it’s acceptable to do so. We as an industry must stand and fight, together.

Marty Daniel, President and CEO

Good for Daniel. Also good for all the small gun shops and armories in America, who should pick up business when sportsmen decide to skip the trip to the P.C. Academy store.

Of course, we still have to deal with Operation Choke Point trying to shut down those stores too. If President Obama and his Democrats can’t legally repeal the Second Amendment, they’ll stop gun sales by all other means.
