There Are Still Martyrs In Egypt

It’s Palm Sunday, and to celebrate, Islamic extremists (ISIS has claimed responsibility according to media reports) detonated two bombs in Egypt at churches as Christians gathered to worship Christ. There have been martyrs in Egypt for over 2,000 years. Their sacrifice continues to this day.

From the AP:

In the first, attack, a bomb exploded at Saint George church in the Nile Delta city of Tanta, killing at least 26 people and wounding over 70, officials said.

Later, an explosion hit Saint Mark’s Cathedral in the coastal city of Alexandria, the historic seat of Christendom in Egypt, killing at least 11 people and wounding 35 just after Pope Tawadros II finished services. His aides later told local media that he had escaped unharmed.

Isaiah 45:14:

Thus says the Lord:

“The labor of Egypt and merchandise of Cush
And of the Sabeans, men of stature,
Shall come over to you, and they shall be yours;
They shall walk behind you,
They shall come over in chains;
And they shall bow down to you.
They will make supplication to you, saying, ‘Surely God is in you,
And there is no other;
There is no other God.’”

Isaiah 45:23:

I have sworn by Myself;
The word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness,
And shall not return,
That to Me every knee shall bow,
Every tongue shall take an oath.

They shall have their full recompense. Jesus Christ is King, Lord, and will return as Ruler of all.

Trump Already Bearing Fruit for Israel

Kudos to President-elect Donald Trump for using some of his new political muscle to support Israel and rebuke the UN for its anti-Semitism.

The United Nations is a very weak cover for Israel-haters. If not for the United States, the UN would have legislated Israel out of existence by now, and authorized use of force to eliminate her. President Obama has always leaned toward the Palestinians, feeling that if they were normalized with a state and formal diplomatic status, they would somehow find a way to coexist with Israel.

We all know this is not the case, and that Obama is denying some very hard realities of why the Arabs have always hated Israel, even before there was an Israel. Israel has been singled out 45 times by the UN’s laughably-named “Human Rights Council,” with nearly half of all of the organization’s country-specific resolutions condemning the tiny Jewish state, while its larger Arab neighbors get away with some of the worst human rights violations in the world.

The latest UN resolution condemned Israel for its housing construction in East Jerusalem. To bring you up to date, Israel is building apartment complexes in unoccupied land in Jerusalem, known as “Area C” in the Oslo Accords. Israel is legally entitled to build there. But Obama and the UN wanted to keep that land for future “land swaps” as part of a more permanent peace agreement with the Palestinians.

Trump’s entrance into the picture, at Israel’s behest, changed the dynamic.

Mr. Trump spoke out after Israeli officials contacted his team for help in blocking the draft resolution condemning settlement construction even as they lobbied its sponsor, Egypt. Within a couple of hours, Egypt withdrew the resolution, at least temporarily, and its president, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, called Mr. Trump to discuss how “to establish true peace in the Middle East,” according to an aide to the president-elect.

The president-elect posted on Facebook:

The resolution being considered at the United Nations Security Council regarding Israel should be vetoed.

As the United States has long maintained, peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians will only come through direct negotiations between the parties, and not through the imposition of terms by the United Nations.

This puts Israel in a very poor negotiating position and is extremely unfair to all Israelis.

I doubt Trump, or anyone, can successfully negotiate peace between Israel and her intractable foes led by terrorists. That peace is reserved for a much higher pay grade. (Let’s not argue eschatology. I realize that one of the end-times events is the anti-Christ signing a peace treaty with Israel. This isn’t “Left Behind” and Christians can’t even agree on the timing of the Rapture.)

Before Israel can negotiate peace, all sides, mostly the Palestinians, must put down their hate, and stop their lies. I applaud Trump’s recognition that the UN should not be a proxy for their anti-Israel activities.

The Blood on Barack Obama’s Hands

The warning signs were there in 2009. President Manuel Zelaya of Honduras sought a referendum to change the Constitution of Honduras to allow himself a longer tenure in office. The Honduran Constitution permanently bars multiple terms and it is not an amendable provision of the nation’s constitution. The Honduran Supreme Court ruled that Zelaya had overstepped his bounds and Zelaya sought to stir up civil unrest. He was supported by Hugo Chavez, his friend, and Barack Obama, the new President of the United States.

The Honduran people ignored the outside pressure and have kept their former President in exile.

Barack Obama then traveled to the Middle East to sing songs of forgiveness for the bully America. As the Arab Spring sparked and riots spread throughout the Middle East, Barack Obama did nothing to quell them. He was happy to help push aside the American leaning strong man of Egypt, Hosni Mubarak. But the Muslim Brotherhood took over and expanded its power until the Egyptian military had to shut it down.

In Libya, Obama decided it was time to oust Ghaddafi who’d all but bowed before George W. Bush after Bush’s ouster of Saddam Hussein. Libya was no longer a threat. But in the process, we destabilized the region and got our ambassador killed in the ensuing unrest.

In Syria, lines in the sand were constantly crossed, then the President threw in with rebels who in turn threw in with ISIS. Now Russia is building military installations in Syria, threatening to further destabilize the region.

But, when the people of Iran stood up in their Green Revolution against their totalitarian masters, Barack Obama backed the totalitarian masters and refused aid and assistance to the people of Iran. In Ukraine, the President has done little to help the people there either.

Time and time again, Barack Obama has been on the wrong side of just about every uprising in the world. As a result, those who want to harm us have become emboldened. Thousands and thousands are dying gruesome deaths in Africa and the Middle East because of Barack Obama’s leadership.

It is not that Obama is weak. Nor is it that he is timid. It’s that he constantly turns a blind eye in the face of evil — a willful malfeasance.

As Fred Hiatt noted in the Washington Post about Syria,”This may be the most surprising of President Obama’s foreign-policy legacies: not just that he presided over a humanitarian and cultural disaster of epochal proportions, but that he soothed the American people into feeling no responsibility for the tragedy.”

Around the world, people have died and they have gone to their deaths knowing that Barack Obama has, each time he confronted evil, genuflected to it and turned his back. And the American Left, which once demanded justice and human rights for all around the world, applauded him.

How many will die because of Barack Obama? If we were truly honest the answer would be a whole lot more than any bodies laid at the feet of George W. Bush.
