That Filthy Lyin’ Ted Has Stolen My Precious

It’s funny, as in “ha ha” funny to hear Trump supporters pooh-pooh the polls in Wisconsin that show Cruz winning handily*. It’s going to be a great night for Ted Cruz.

It’s going to make it very hard for Trump to take 1,237 delegates, and therefore Cruz will have the greatest chance of winning at the convention.

Waukesha is just west of Milwaukee, Racine is down near the Illinois border, Winnebago–home to Oshkosh–is in the interior of the state, Brown is home to the Green Bay Packers, and Columbia is south-central dairy farm country. Cruz has strong support in those counties.

Trump will claim that “Lyin’ Ted has stolen his election.” That somehow “the will of the people” was suppressed in an open primary.

Then the narrative will turn to all those pesky delegates Cruz has meticulously recruited. Somehow this recruiting effort (which Trump neglected up until now) will be “stealing” his delegates. In Trump’s world, there’s only one ballot at the GOP national convention, and whoever has the most delegates should win.

Hell, why even bother having a convention? Whoever wins the most “delegate units” (why make them people?) should win outright. Since it’s highly unlikely anyone will have more than Trump, he wants the nomination now.

They’re thieves! They’re thieves! They’re filthy little thieves! Where is it? Where is it? They stole it from us, our precious. Curse them! WE hates them! it’s ours it is, and we wants it! We wants it, we needs it. Must have the precious. They stole it from us. Sneaky little hobbitses. Wicked, tricksy, false!

*Only one recent poll by ARG, whose work is suspect and is rarely on target, has Trump up in Wisconsin. I’m certain we’ll hear praises for the ARG poll from the Trump camp today–until actual results come in.
