The Best Laid Plans . . .

Christy and I, having had several conversations since she was in the hospital, have felt very strongly that for ourselves and Evelyn, we really needed to be dividing our time between Vineville Presbyterian, where we go to church, and First Presbyterian, where several of the ladies in Christy’s Bible Study go and are our age with kids Evelyn’s age.

So we decided today was the day. We got home from South Georgia at a reasonable hour last night (from a birthday party for Christy’s aunt). We were in bed by 9:30 p.m. By 2 a.m. Evelyn was up sick and coughing. By 7 a.m., Christy was up sick. I’m fine. Evelyn seems fine now, other than just coughing. I’ve given her cough medicine and she’ll be knocked out soon. Christy is still asleep.

Sigh. Guess we’ll have a do over next weekend.

  • I know how frustrating that can be. One of my resolutions this year is to be a better spiritual leader in my family, and that has meant a more concerted effort to be involved in the church.

We had never participated in the Wednesday night small groups before, so we thought this would be a great way to step up our involvement. We planned to start going the second Wednesday in January, when the new quarter began…

Wednesday rolls around, and Susanna has to come home from school with a fever, which later gives way to pink-eye. This wasn’t the first time something like this has come up just when we are trying to step up our level of church involvement.

Satan has a vested interest in keeping us from worship and fellowship with other believers. Don’t be discouraged. God will bring you back when the time is right – when it will be most beneficial to you and your family.

Hope to see you next week!
