The President Listened to the Man His Voters Rejected and Government Grew Bigger

Turns out President Trump’s instincts were right on the budget fight. He wanted to veto the bill, because it was bad, even if the government shut down. He should have done that and forced the Democrats to surrender. But he did not because John Boehner convinced him otherwise.

John Boehner was rejected by the base of the party and thrown out of the Speaker’s chair by his own members of congress. That Reince Priebus had to call Boehner and connect him to Trump is not good. Had the President vetoed the legislation, he could have forced the Democrats on defense. Instead, it looks like President Trump surrendered. And make no mistake — he did.
