The Year of Anger, 2016 Politics Does The Devil’s Work

History will record 2016 as the year of anger. Anger is exhausting. After the initial burst of indignation and release, the emotion solidifies into bitterness, fueling more eruptions. Bitter people are just mean. Meanness, anger and bitterness lead to an inevitable result.

I’m not talking about day-to-day anger, that we all see.

That everyday meanness: there’s New York meanness, where the difference between being told to FOAD by your best friend and your worst enemy is indistinguishable to outsiders. Sometimes it’s a Southern mean, all “bless your heart” and neck hugs at church, then cursed like the devil behind your back. I’m reading J.D. Vance’s “Hillbilly Elegy,” and I think Appalachian meanness might be the most honest, for white people. They’ll just effing kill you and tell you to your face.

I grew up in New Hampshire, where town-by-town you can run into bizarre combinations of the above.

There’s racial meanness–that white people call of non-whites, thuggishness–of which many in the thug life are proud. Just like Vance wrote his reaction to reading about his ancestors in a century-old edition of The New York Times over a feud, murder, and potentially stolen election; the emotion he felt was pride. That’s the hillbilly way to “win.”

Thug lifers feel pride when they “win” in places like Baltimore, Baton Rouge, Dallas, and now Milwaukee. Every burned car and looted store is a sucker punch to The Man, which is a win in the bitter world of anger politics.

There’s a purity in the bitterness, anger, and pride of groups whose American experience has been one of poverty, suspicious, isolation, and deeply scarred family life. In other words, when getting out of a particular culture is seen as the best way to improve your life, those who are left behind can be expected to nurse bitterness, feuds and grudges like they were cherished heirlooms.

America has been living with those cultures since our country was founded.

Let me tell you what makes me angry.

Disingenuous pretenders who play on the pure bitterness and anger of these groups for their own profit are the worst scum imaginable. They might as well pour lead into children’s candy, or spike Kool Aid with rat poison, or strangle kittens in front of a kindergarten class. They’re evil.

Liberals have a natural affection for taking on other people’s bitterness and trying to fix it–to convert those bitter people into a “better” life. They don’t always do it out of a motive of self-enrichment. Rather, they think of themselves as avatars for the downtrodden: A kind of paladin-class who can right every wrong. But many of these know-betters and do-gooders are rejected by the very groups they wish to empower.

Martin Luther, in his later life, tried to befriend Jews in order to convert them. Naturally, Jews are suspicious of Christians because they know many want to befriend them only to convert them. Regardless of Luther’s pure intentions, he was firmly rebuffed. He became bitter, and lashed out at the Jews (many of his rants were later used by evil men like Hitler, and are still used in blood libels today).

Democrats have this kind of maternal relationship with minorities today. It’s only through the political power of self-interested Rasputins like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson that (white, privileged, elite) liberals have any real voice in the African-American community.

Hillary Clinton is a self-interested elite pretender to that crowd. Donald Trump is a pretender to his own crowd, but the bitterness is the same. They are both playing the anger note to embittered segments of American society, continually stoking the tinder that erupts into full-fledged rage, even violence.

The more reflective elements of the GOP have already begun asking “what have we wrought?” But liberals, in general, lack the self-awareness to ask those questions. The appeal of socialist Bernie Sanders is an almost visceral reaction by those who have not yet passed from college into the waterless desert of work and debt; who are mercifully uninfected by the anger-masking cynicism their elders mainline like heroin.

Occasionally, a moment of clarity presents itself, and a dissenter emerges. For instance, when Black Lives Matter adopted a “platform” which included only one indictment against a foreign country for “genocide and apartheid,” liberal Alan Dershowitz cried foul.

Of course, BLM singled out Israel (or the Zionist Entity, as it has now been more acceptable to use by those who would avoid terms like “filthy Jews”).

Criticizing Israel is not anti-Semitic. Like other democracies, including our own, it has faults. Criticizing Israel’s settlement and occupation policies is fair game. But singling Israel out and falsely accusing it of “genocide” can be explained in no other way than blatant hatred of Jews and their state.

I mentioned above that meanness, anger and bitterness lead to an inevitable result, and here it is. Allow me to offer an analogy.

Anger and bitterness are like a sponge soaked in excrement. When it’s dry, it smells but nothing comes out when it’s squeezed. Add some water, and you still have to squeeze hard to get anything out. Drench the sponge, and when you squeeze hard enough, the crap juice emerges.

That filth is always the same: Jew hatred. Squeeze any bitter, anger-soaked society hard enough and that’s what comes out. Tyrannical monarchies? Throw out the Jews. Tsars? Pogroms. Soviet Communism? Gulags for the Jews. Naziism? Ovens.

Squeeze them and see what comes out.

Trump’s hillbilly, blue-collar American anger revival? The alt-right blood and soil Jew haters. Black Lives Matter? Blood libels. Hillary Clinton? Max Blumenthal, Huma Abedin and all the self-hating Jews in their traveling party. The United Nations? Continual Israel-bashing while true genocide is ignored or covered up.

Dershowitz wrote:

There must be zero tolerance for anti-Semitism, regardless of the race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation of the bigots who promote, practice or are complicit with it. Being on the right side of one racial issue does not give one a license to be on the wrong side of the oldest bigotry.

To give Black Lives Matter a pass on its anti-Jewish bigotry would be to engage in racism. Black anti-Semitism is as inexcusable as white anti-Semitism or white racism. There can be no double standard when it comes to bigotry.

But that double standard has always been with us, as long as there have been Jews. (There’s a reason for this, but believing it requires belief in spiritual things, like God, Satan, angels, demons, and a very Jewish Lamb of God named Yeshua who died to save the world.)

Next, we’ll see PETA, the climate change church, and other so-called liberal global saviors embrace Jew-bashing as their favorite pastime. Just squeeze the bitter sponge hard enough, and it always ends up yielding the same filth.

And there will always emerge some useful vavasour like Clinton and Trump to do the devil’s work.
