40 Days for Life launches national bus tour, prayer to end abortion

Since 2007, 40 Days for Life has saved thousands of babies in more than 100 locations around America and the world. Last night, President David Bereit and other pro-life leaders kicked off a national bus tour that will visit sites in dozens of states, and lead prayer to save the unborn and their mothers from the horror of abortion.

My Stream colleague Anika Smith attended last night’s rally, which was held in front of the U.S. Supreme Court. “While many in the pro-life movement may be tempted to despair in the midst of this awful presidential race, 40 Days reminds us that our help is not in princes but in the God of Heaven, who will hear our cry,” she told me.

Other rallies were reported across the nation yesterday, in Illinois, Virginia, Houston, and elsewhere. Even the Vatican has gotten involved, praising 40 Days for its life-saving work:

“I am honored to endorse your efforts and to assure you of our enthusiastic cooperation and assistance, particularly during your coming September 28-November 6 Campaign, in which so many Catholic dioceses and other religious communities and traditions will participate,” wrote Academy President Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia in a letter dated Sept. 20 to 40 Days For Life.

The Supreme Court rally can be seen here.
