There’s a reason today is a slow news day; everyone in Washington D.C. is battening down the hatches preparing for Snowmageddon 2017.
A severe winter storm with double-digit snowfall totals and whiteout conditions is taking shape for the Northeast corridor. Impacts will begin Monday night and last through Tuesday afternoon, but snow will linger on roads beyond that. Many roads will be impassable and businesses may be shut down.
Among the casualties of bad East Coast weather: German Chancellor Angela Merkel. She has cancelled her Tuesday visit to the White House and rescheduled it for Friday, according to press secretary Sean Spicer.
President Trump is not scheduled to travel today, according to a schedule posted by POLITICO. Apparently the president is going to ride out the storm in Washington, D.C. rather than flee to Mar-a-Lago.
On Wednesday, Trump is scheduled to speak at a 2020 campaign rally in Nashville. The rest of D.C. could be shut down, but I’m sure the Air Force will find a way to clear the runway for Air Force One to take off.
If things get too boring, Trump could pass the time on Twitter. Let’s hope he doesn’t get bored.
