Which Congressman Wants $8 million to market wild American shrimp?

It’s in a subscribers only link at the Wall Street Journal. The Congressman wants $8,000,000.00 to pay for marketing of wild American shrimp and $2.3 million to fund research into shrimp-fishing.

These are but two of the Congressman’s 65 earmarks sought thus far this year to the tune of $400,000,000.00. HIs chief spokesman pulled a Tom DeLay and said

“Reducing earmarks does not reduce government spending, and it does not prohibit spending upon those things that are earmarked,” the spokesman said. “What people who push earmark reform are doing is they are particularly misleading the public — and I have to presume it’s not by accident.”

Of course the Congressman in question is the patron saint of both the constitutionally pure crowd and the black helicopter crowd — Congressman Ron Paul.

PAGING RON PAUL SUPPORTERS: Please cite the Article, Section, and clause of the Constitution that gives Congress express authority to fund the marketing of wild American shrimp.

[UPDATE:] Holy Cow! Look at this porker. Unfreakingbelieveable. And people buy his “I’m a purist” crap?

  • I hope someone is going into the archives of earmarks and finds out where all the money sent to states from the federal government for roads and bridges and levees over the last four administrations has gone and traces what politicians pockets it went into. Money from the first George Bush, billions, went into a retirement fund at the Dept of Transportation in Louisiana. Gravel roads here are smoother than the highways, but we have fabulous casinos, so I’ve heard. Interstates running by them are some of the worst in the country, but the streets getting to the casinos are smooth and brightly lit up. You can see that as you pass by on the bumpy interstate. Those who took that money and used it for their own purposes will have to give an account one day to the Almighty. I would not want to be in their shoes.

I say bring it on Wall Street Joural because that means the establishment is scared of the Ron Paul Revolution. There is absolutely nothing wrong for getting money back in your district that the Federal income taxes take away from people. I am sure that the average income in Ron Paul’s district is higher than many districts in Texas, that is why they are Libertarians. Ron Paul explains in the above writing the legitimacy of getting the district’s money back. Here in Macon, Georgia we get more money that our people pay in federal taxes in grants and earmarks. This is great because Ron Paul’s friend list increased by another 1,000 in the last week and a navy veteran friend of mine that I have been preaching Ron Paul to for three or more months now, emailed me yesterday because he saw Ron Paul on Fox News and he liked what he heard and is going to support him.

And surprise surprise, one of the biggest liberal letter writers to the Macon Telegraph is going to come to our next Ron Paul Meetup! If he joins us and decides to support the good doctor, he may let me disclose his name! Bring it on WSJ and all the other media outlets becasuse we love the coverage. When people blog the details and see the Ron Paul momentum growing like an avalanche, they are inspired to support the liberty and freedom loving man who loves babies, is a Christian and does not have to listen to a poll to decide what to say. Kind of puts consultants out of business, though. Oh too bad.

  • I ordered 100 signs and just got them in today. I have almost sold them all at cost, would you like one Erick? How about a bumper sticker? Several of us will be at Sonny’s Fish Fry this weekend and we plan to have a Ron Paul booth at the Perry State Fair. No other candidate has the grass roots support that Ron Paul has, none.

Same City that Badnarik is from who was on the ballot for President in 2004 in 48 states. Ron Paul is not the hard core libertarian that is for complete open borders and he is personally opposed to abortions, I mean what else would a doctor who has delivered over 4,000 babies believe? It would be so wonderful to see a real person who came up through the ranks not in wealth but a real person who loves a big family. Ron Paul’s wife Carol said that she could just imagine their eighteen grandchildren at the White House. Now you hypocrites that want to restore family values in this country what better way than with such a large loving family. All of Ron Paul’s brothers were at the Pittsburg rally this past Friday night, and it was broadcast live on justin.tv, that is right Ron Paul has his own live video feed of his rallies now. I do not know why any Christian can sit back and belittle Ron Paul. It makes me wonder for sure, just what is up your all’s crawl. Do you worship war that much? Are do you want to allow the Democrats to win by default because you support neocons that the majority of Americans will reject? I dunno at the stupidity of many people in the GOP.

    To KmErickson and others,

This is the real state of our “Sub-Prime Super Power” writing by Pat Buchanan. The money is gone as soon as it is printed in the United States. The Social Security fund has been raided; the American people are mortgaged to the hilt with their personal finances; the American people’s share of the US debt is so staggering that most would shake their heads in disbelief if they were told.

Most people think they own their own home even if it has only 10% actual equity. Most people do not realize that when good jobs go overseas that it actually is a blow to the entire economy. I say it quite a bit, but very ignorant people that are in the state government and I do not have to mention names because most fit the bill including our Governor continue to tax tobacco for every ail that there is or for every temporary band aid needed to fund some new welfare program. Look at the people right here in Bibb County that did nothing to save Brown and Williamson in this community, the second or third largest tobacco company in the world and one of the largest corporations in the state of Georgia.

Basically, we are in deep doo doo in this United States, and everyone is saying well why, why, why is this happening. It is happening because we have gone from an independent Republic where all fend for themselves to a collectivist nightmare of a democracy where not only are “two wolves and a sheep trying to decide what to have for lunch,” but now we have ten wolves or more to one sheep trying to decide what to have for lunch.

Someone said it best that all we are doing is rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. Yes, we are going to face doom days, and it is sooner than you think. Pretty soon, private corporations from Australia and Mexico and many other countries will buy all infrastructure, and don’t be surprised when you start paying tolls for every interstate that you travel. It is coming, and real soon.

  • “No people will tamely surrender their Liberties, nor can any be easily subdued, when knowledge is diffusd and Virtue is
preservd. On the Contrary, when People are universally ignorant, and debauchd in their Manners, they will sink under their own
weight without the Aid of foreign Invaders.”
    — Samuel Adams (letter to James Warren, 4 November 1775)

  • Shouldn’t a Representative present the requests of the people in his district to the congress? Isn’t that his job?

Not to mention the fact that he always VOTES AGAINST the pork in final passage anyway.

Ron Paul is consistently and conscientiously the most anti-pork person in congress. Ask anyone on the hill who the lobbyists don’t even bother talking to and they will tell you it’s RON PAUL.
